Security Public Education Campaign

Be aware of your surroundings

Jefferson Parish Transit takes security on our buses, at our terminals, and at our bus stops very seriously. We ask that you do the same. Be aware of your surroundings and report anything suspicious to a uniformed officer, JP Transit employee, or call (504) 818-1077 or 911 from a safe distance. Remember SEC_RITY is not complete without U!

Transit Watch was developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The latest campaign from Jefferson Parish Transit Administration (JPTA) is part of a three year campaign to educate the public on how they can help to improve transit security for Jefferson Parish Transit passengers. The purpose of this campaign is to increase public awareness of security issues, to encourage passengers to take an active role in keeping transit safe, and to inform the public of proper evacuation procedures during an emergency event.
