Statement regarding face mask use on public transportation
In light of the court ruling on Monday, April 18, 2022 and effective immediately, the TSA will not enforce the mask mandate  on public transportation. Therefore, JP Transit and its operators will no longer enforce the mask mandate on Buses or Paratransit vehicles. However, the CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks on public transit. We will communicate any updates publicly if and/or when they change.

Construction on W6 Gretna Local
Beginning Monday, March 9 until further notice, the W6 Gretna Local cannot serve the following two stops due to construction: 1. Gretna Ferry Terminal and 2. Huey Long Avenue at 2nd Street. Normal service resumes at Huey Long Avenue and 4th Street.

E3 Kenner Local route now ends at Coleman Place
Effective Aug 25, 2021: Jefferson Transit is no longer authorized to provide service on the E3 Kenner Local route between Coleman Place and the St. Charles Parish line. The E3 Kenner Local route now terminates at Coleman Pl.

Reasonable Accommodation Statement

In accordance with directives from the Federal Transit Administration, JP Transit is committed to carrying out the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s implementing regulations at 49 CFR Parts 27, 37, 38, and 39.

These regulations mandate that public transit organizations make reasonable modifications and accommodations to policies, practices, and procedures to avoid discrimination, and to ensure accessibility to individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities may request, in advance, that JP Transit make a reasonable accommodation in order for that individual to fully use transit services.

Reasonable modifications do have limitations and are not intended to:

– Cause a direct threat to the health and safety of others
– Create undue financial and administrative burdens
– Constitute a fundamental alteration to a service
– Not necessary to provide equal access to a JP Transit service

Thanksgiving
Christmas

A separate schedule will be announced and used during carnival season (week preceding Mardi Gras day).

Routes without Saturday service do not operate on holidays.
